LaTourette Hit by the Housing Crisis, About to Be Hit By Bill O'Neill

The housing crisis is hurting one of our own. Northeast Ohioans impacted by deflated property values, foreclosures, and a collapsing real estate market can certainly share the anxiety and frustration that Congressman Steve LaTourette and his wife Jennifer share today. According to The Plain Dealer, their plain, old, former home in Alexandria, Virginia is just sitting there on the market for $1,195,000 - down from the original purchase price of $1,240,000.

Time to brown bag it for lunch and take the Metro to the office? Nah. The latest Mrs. LaTourette and her husband bought a six-bedroom house in a much more upscale neighborhood of D.C. for a cool $1.3 million.

Two mortgages totaling $2.5 million?
Nah, Washington doesn't change people.

Speaking of change, Judge Bill O'Neill is formally kicking off his campaign to finally send LaTourette back home (but with two pricey DC houses, I think Washington is home even after his defeat). O'Neill be announcing at a rally on Saturday afternoon at 1PM at the end of the RTA Blue Line - Warrensville Center and Chagrin in Shaker Hts.

How do we find him?

That's such a busy corner. Is the train station small enough that he'll be easy to locate?

As for LaTourette, you remember what his first wife said — the one he was cheating on with second wife Jennifer? Back after he unceremoniously dumped her on the phone, she said, "He used to be a really great guy, but something happened after he went to Washington," or words to that effect. Yeah, that's pretty clear. Why do they need a six-bedroom, million-dollar-plus house anyway?

You'll Be Able To Find Us

We're hoping for a crowd...announcing for Congress at the "end of the line" with the question...why is it that rail transit STOPS in Shaker Heights and East Cleveland????? Since Steve has gone to Congress there has not been ONE INCH OF COMMUTER RAIL put down in the district. Are the workers in Mentor, Stow and and Solon just supposed to pay for the so-called Regional Transit Authority...or are they entitled to commuter rail like the taxpayers in Chicago, New York, Boston, Atlanta...and SHAKER HEIGHTS? I hope to ask that question to the media on Saturday. See you at Starbucks if it is too cold.
